Where are they now? Abigail Zulu and the Mikumbila Women’s Cooperative

Mikumbila has been one of our most successful projects in terms of being completed on time and within budget. This community school is well organised and the contractor and trainees maintained their enthusiasm and hard work over six months. So we were delighted that 13 ex-trainees have decided to continue working together and formed their own co-operative.

Spokesperson Abigail Zulu told us that they have secured orders for 10,000 soil blocks. Build IT has agreed to rent the co-operative a press to help them fulfil the orders.

Could these be the first steps to a successful micro-enterprise and a brighter future in Mikumbila?
