We are constantly looking to promote the use of local building materials, especially those with a low environmental impact. At the same time, we use our projects as opportunities to promote improved design, creating cooler, lighter
fit-for-purpose buildings.
Low technology works best
Our Aim is to promote building practises that can be maintained indefinitely. So they mustn’t require expensive materials or complex equipment. We aim to make maximum use of the local human and physical resources.
Environmental issues
At Build IT we see one of our key roles as promoting environmental building practises. We aim to keep the carbon impact of all our building as low as possible. That means using stabilized soil blocks, locally made roof tiles and experimenting with sanitation and rainwater harvesting solutions where possible.
We are currently developing a methodology to measure the environmental impact of all our buildings.
If you have any comments or thoughts on this we would love to hear from you. We are always looking to improve.
