This week a team of five professionals from Malawi visited our work in Zambia. They came from the Ministry of Education infrastructure department (funded by the UK Government) and TEVETA, the national vocational training body.

The aim was to learn from each other on good practice in delivering community based infrastructure projects that include vocational training.
As well as visiting national counterpart agencies, the visitors went to BII projects in Central Province: St Agness and Mikumbila where they were impressed with what they saw. Discussions focused mainly on how to work effectively with rural communities, selection of trainees and management of volunteers. The visit also looked in detail at training curriculums. BII consultant technical supervisor, Malcolm Alcock told us:
The trip was a resounding success. The Malawians being greatly impressed with the schools that BII have constructed in their training and community building programs. We also learned much on various technical issues.
